RUby Walsh rode the short favourite to victory beating off Zaidpour, Hurricane Fly moved up with 2 to go and after the last broke free to win by three and half lengths to get his 15th Career win. A win that which meant he remains favourite for the 2013 Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham at 11/2.

The Mile at Sandown the group 2 race saw Pentinent make it 2 for 2 under new trainer David O’Meara. Pentitent won by one and three quarter lengths.

The wet weather has hampered Punchestown all week and on Saturday there will be an early inspection. Friday the racing was just about raceable but with further rain expected Punchestown organisers do not want to take any chance. There are an expected 6 races, with the delayed Gold Cup being run at 15:15.

Today the Gold Cup is run at Sandown with the market leaders being Le Beau Bai and West End Rocker who was heavily tipped at the Grand National but fell. Le Beau Bai won the Welsh National. 20 horses will contest the gold cup, another contender is Galaxy Rock who pulled up at the Scottish Grand National at Ayr.
