12:20 – Khyber Kim 3pts win
Plenty of exposed novices here, but the one I think can improve past them all is the least exposed runner in the line-up Khyber Kim. The winner of his only start to date over the sticks this former Henry Candy inmate (now with Nicky Henderson) beat a decent field at Newbury that day and with the expected improvement he looks to be another nice animal for the in-form Henderson team to go to war with over the next few months.
13:55 – Chomba Womba 2pts win
The Henderson yard can land a double here with Chomba Womba. After coming over from Ireland she got her campaign off to a great start in this country with two wins at Kempton and Sandown and although she was a very short price last time she should again come on for the run and looks another Festival bound runner, probably in the new mares’ race.
15:00 – An Accordion 2pts e/w
A monster field head to post for the Skybet.com Chase and with only two winners in the last decade winning with over 11-0 then first of all it’s best to rule out some of those at the top of the handicap, including the likely favourite Opera Mundi and the French raider L’Ami, both with 11-12.
You can make a case for plenty of the others but I think the Pipe team could get another big Saturday race in the bag with An Accordion. He had a great first season over fences last season winning two of his three races and actually finished second in a decent Cheltenham bumper behind Cork All Star back in November 2006. He has however been a shade disappointing this season but with the stable in much better form now it looks as if he’s been targeted with this race in mind and with only 10-8 (less jockey’s 5lb claim) to carry he is certainly on a decent mark.
