World Cup 2010 Betting Preview Golden boot
On June 12th, 2010 the football World Cup will once again take place. The field for the World Cup this year is very good, and the betting odds reflect that. There is no huge favorite this year. The same can be said for the odds on the winner of the Golden Boot, which is given to the top goal scorer during the World Cup. There are four teams that are all very close to being the favorite, and there are several players that are close to being the favorite to win the Golden Boot as well.
Spain is the current favorite to win the 2010 football World Cup at 7/2. This means that if you risked £200 you would win £700. While Spain has a great team, it could be argued that Brazil, who comes in at 9/2 odds, should be the favorite. In fact, in the FIFA World Rankings, Brazil is the number 1 ranked team, while Spain comes in second. Spain has to play Switzerland, who is ranked 24th, in their first game. Brazil, on the other hand, plays Korea Republic, who is ranked 47th.
Argentina comes into the World Cup at 13/2 odds to win. They are currently ranked 7th in the world, and could be a very good value at those odds. Their first game is against Nigeria, who is currently ranked 21st. England is another team that has good odds for a very good team, as they come into World Cup play at 7/1 odds. They are currently ranked 8th in the world, and they first play USA, who is ranked 14th in the world. Out of the top four teams, England has to face the toughest competition the soonest.
