The Super League season this year is well and truly underway and looking to the season closure, it could still be anyone’s victory, in particular where the top five teams are placed at the moment.
The 2010 European Tour is renowned for providing spectators with some of the best golf viewing in the whole world, with numerous big golfing names competing throughout the year in an array of tournaments which includes some of the best loved courses. The ‘Race to Dubai’ is the final event on The European Tour which finishes in November.
Pakistan v Australia Test Matches July 2010 take place in England on Neutral Grounds. The month of July 2010 will see two nations, Pakistan and Australia, compete in 1st and 2nd Test cricket matches which contribute to their overall rankings in the ICC Test Championship. The 1st Test starts on the 13th July and will finish on the 17th July and will be played at Lord’s. Following on from that, the 2nd Test will be played at Headingley Stadium starting on the 21st July and finishing on the 25th. Both matches will surely be an enjoyable addition to the Test Series.
One of the most prestigious golf tournaments is taking place in July 2010 at the infamous St Andrews course on 15 Jul 2010 – 18 Jul 2010. With this tournament being the only ‘major’ played outside of the US, it is one event that every professional golf player wants to win, not least the current champion, Stewart Cink, from the USA. Let’s hope the good weather continues and stays in Scotland so that every player and spectator can fully enjoy the professional golfers at their very best.
It is always difficult to predict a winner for these tournaments and with Stewart Cink,
With the excitement of the tournament nearly over, and the third place to be decided between Uruguay and Germany, the final showpiece gets underway tomorrow night between Spain and Holland.
Played just the week before The Open Championship which is at St Andrews this year, The Barclays Scottish Open will see some of the best golf professionals in the world competing as part of the brilliant European Tour. Some players will then go on to compete in The Open Championship following on from this event, for example Phil Mickelson and Retief Goosen are just two of the big names in both. The Barclays Scottish Open takes place at Loch Lomond GC on 08 Jul 2010 – 11 Jul 2010.
The natural assumption would be to back Spain, who have David Villa, Fernando Torres, Xavi, Xabi Alonso, Cesc Fabregas, etc. But that belies some mixed success that has come their way and doesn’t take into account some of the form players of this World Cup – Tiago, Eduardo, Bruno Alves and Raul Meireles, not to mention one Cristiano Ronaldo.
Both Germany and England will fancy their chances in this tie, making it nearly impossible to pick a winner. But not completely.
Now that the group stage games are over – and both 2006’s finalists, Italy and France, have fallen by the wayside – the knockout rounds begin.
The first of the Last 16 ties to be contested sees Diego Forlan’s Uruguay take on Park Ji-Sung’s South Korea.
Uruguay will feel full of confidence after finishing above the South African hosts, France and Mexico, especially when some had written the 5th-placed South American qualifiers off before a ball had been kicked. Their forwards, Forlan, Suarez and Cavani, have looked sharp and tricky to contain, whilst at the back, they are one of only 3 teams who have yet to concede a single goal, much thanks to Lugano and Fucile.
Group F is extremely tight, with all teams still capable of qualification and elimination.
Even Paraguay have cause for concern – should Paraguay lose to New Zealand (by any score) and Italy overcome Slovakia (by any score), they would finish 3rd. This is, however, an unlikely outcome. The trident of Valdez, Santa Cruz and Barrios will remain a terrifying sight for the Kiwis but Paraguay’s greatest asset is their excellent defence. Equal to Italy and far too good for Slovakia, they are high in confidence, looking to sail through a tricky group as winners.
The Minnesota Twins are currently sitting at the top of the American League Central Division. Their record is 40-29. This weekend they will face the New York Mets who are second in the National League East 2 1/2 game behind Atlanta with a similar record of 39 and 30.
Brazil take on one of Africa’s biggest teams, knowing that a win will all but qualify them for the second round. But the Ivory Coast have designs on an impressive opener against Portugal, aware that a draw will set them up well for a showdown with North Korea.
England will look to get off to the same start they had against USA but ensure the ending is a very different one. As for Algeria, defeat would see them fail to progress from Group C.
Germany can effectively wrap up qualification for the knockout rounds with victory over Serbia, whereas their opponents need the win to ensure their chances of progressing remain in their hands.
