The idea for Betting Portal was formed by Martin Warn who got frustrated at the lack of sports previews, to help him make decisions on betting. Betting Portal was formed to provide a fast paced sports betting news site. Martin has used his contact in sports journalism to put together an expert teams of writers from both UK and Europe and also leading US sports writers.
We are proud of our experienced team of writers and betting pros who ensure our sport stories are of the highest quality and provided in a timely fashion before big sports events.

Martin Nicholson
Martin Nicholson used to be a freelance golf journalist, having his article published in national newspapers as well as specialist golf publications. He is a keen follower of all sports, and has had articles published in regional newspapers and online publications for a variety of sports Martin is the founder of betting portal site, as well as being a Co founder of Golfingnews.org.uk
Stan Butterworth
Stan is a former full-time professional gambler having initially trained as a journalist. He has written betting columns for 15 regional newspapers, and had hundreds of Sports articles published in National publications in his twenty Five years as a Sports Journalist. He left the profession to concentrate of full-time gambling in 2002, but missed the cut and thrust of the newsroom, and joined Betting-Portal as Editor in January 2004.
Ken Jacks
Ken joined our team in 2003. He is our lead award winning Golf Writer, and has worked for the golf channel and ESPN , and currently free lancers for one of Floridas leading newspapers, as well as writing for betting portal. Ken has covered every major for us in the last 3 years, and also writes for our sister site “golfing news” His work has lead to awards at the the Fla. Press Assoc. awards. We are lucky to have Ken on the Betting Portal
Simon Blythe
Simon joined the team in 2010. He specialising in European and World Football. He was our lead World Cup Writer. Simon used his wide knowledge of European Football to provide expert match previews for all games during the recent world cup in South Africa. Simon will also be providing previews of European Football, this season. We look forward to him sharing his wide knowledge of the European Game this season.
