Tirreno–Adriatico is the “Race of the Two Seas” it goes from Tyrrhenian and Adriatic coasts of Italy. It is seen as a prep for the Milan – San Remo classic race.
Tirreno-Adriatico, the race between the two seas, has a star packed field. Lining up are Contador, Nibali, Rodrigues, Evans and a certain Chris Froome and it’s the latter I’m gonna place a bet on. Chris is the designated leader of Team SKY that Wiggins was last year. Team SKY are sending a STRONG team, aimed at taking the top spot. What Chris lacks, come Tour de France, is leadership experience and just like last year w/ Wiggins, he’s expected and aimed to gain experience in the week-long races leading up to the Tour. It worked out great with Wiggo and I’ve no indication of Froome failing to do the same. He has been leader before, with less pressure. Pressure is on now though. His form is good and his compeators’ form is okay too, but not overdominant. Course should suit him like a glove.

First held in 1966, the first edition consisted in 3 stages, which became 5 from the second edition to 1984. Since 1984 the race consisted in 6, 7 or 8 stages; however since 2002 has always been a 7-days race. Since the second edition the race has always ended in San Benedetto del Tronto. Having won six consecutive editions (1972–77), Roger De Vlaeminck holds the record of most wins. It’s one of the few cycling races that Eddy Merckx has never won.
