The Open Golf 2010 Preview

One of the most prestigious golf tournaments is taking place in July 2010 at the infamous St Andrews course on 15 Jul 2010 – 18 Jul 2010. With this tournament being the only ‘major’ played outside of the US, it is one event that every professional golf player wants to win, not least the current champion, Stewart Cink, from the USA. Let’s hope the good weather continues and stays in Scotland so that every player and spectator can fully enjoy the professional golfers at their very best.
It is always difficult to predict a winner for these tournaments and with Stewart Cink, the current champion, at 80/1 as the outright winner at Sky Bet, it’s anybody’s guess! Do you think Tiger Woods will show what he’s made of for this tournament and put his feet firmly under the winning table again or will it be fellow American Phil Mickelson at 12/1…this might just be worth an each-way wager! It is quite obviously that when you view the winners of this tournament not only in previous years but dating back to the 1970’s and 1980’s, the USA presence was very clear, with American players winning this tournament numerous times. Lee Westwood is the England hopeful and with a current Sky Bet price at 14/1, and the fact that he was placed second at the 2010 Masters, should mean he is going into this event beaming with confidence, knowing that he can compete with the very best.
With The Masters and US Open out of the way, The Open is the third major golf tournament to take place this year so with the professionals warmed up, who is your money on to win this big one?
