PDC World Grand Prix Darts Night One Betting Tips

We will expect Thornton to be on top form after an excellent weekend on the floor events in Dublin. Robert Thornton will want to be turning his form around against Walsh, as they have played eight times, and Walsh has won six of them. Both have similar winning percentages, and Thornton beat Walsh in a player’s championship event back in March.
Order of play

Monday October 8 (7pm-12am)
First Round
Mark Walsh v Robert Thornton
Dean Winstanley v Dave Chisnall
Simon Whitlock v Justin Pipe
Terry Jenkins v Mervyn King
Gary Anderson v Brendan Dolan
Phil Taylor v Michael Smith
Kevin Painter v Kim Huybrechts
Vincent van der Voort v William O’Connor

Best match odds:

Thornton – 5/6 – Ladbrokes
Walsh – 6/5 – Boylesports

Thornton has had by far the best year of his professional career. We advised earlier to Lay Walsh in play and we will stick by this. We will be backing Thornton and this will be our Lockup Single of the day.

Terry Jenkins v Mervyn King
A tough game to call in essence. Both players have supreme quality and the game could go either way. A market to take a persons eye though could be over 2.5 sets, as neither player will back down easily and both will see they can win it. Both have been in major finals, so they know what is at stake. Over 2.5 sets is 1/1 at Skybet.

Gary Anderson v Brendan Dolan

Anderson has been looking on top form again since his suspension, and we can hardly forget the magic that Brendan produced last year. We thought that Brendan had the luck of the Irish on his side to help his tourney. Anderson though is a quality player in the elite top ten. We do not see anything but an Anderson win here and BetVictor8/15 with BetVictor says he will win. Anyone looking for better value should consider the Anderson correct score of Anderson 2-0, and Skybet go 11/8 on a 2-0 scoreline.

Vincent van der Voort v William O’Connor

They usually say, when the Dutch turn up, they produce the goods. VVV is on last and will want an extended stay until at least Wednesday. Connor has lost both times against VVV and we can see another loss taking place. VVV is excellent value –1.5 sets at 13/8 with Skybet and he will be too strong for the irish guy! Reasoning behind the bet is, this tourney is the beginning of the run in to the World Championships, so all players will want to be playing their very best to cement their world ranking, which may influence the route they have in the World Championships.

Recommended betting:

Thornton – 5/6 Ladbrokes
King/Jenkins – over 10.5 games 1/1 Skybet
Anderson 2-0 – 11/8 Skybet
VVV – -1.5 sets 13/8 Skybet
