Raymond Van Barneveld has made it into the Quarter finals of the Sky Poker World Grand Prix Darts Betting taking place at the Citywest Hotel In Dublin.
Last night saw Raymond Van Barneveld continue his return to form with a final leg win over Adrian Lewis in the Sky Poker World Grand Prix. He takes on Colin Lloyd tomorrow for a place in the last eight and Sky Bet are offering 4/11 for the Dutchman to see off Lloyd and 7/2 for him to win in straight sets. Barney who hit five 180’s against Lewis is 4/6 to hit the first 180 in his match and it’s 2/1 for there to be a 180 in the first leg. Lloyd, who came from two sets down to defeat Kevin Painter, is 2/1 to cause an upset and it’s 6/5 for Lloyd to start off with a first dart double.

The other confirmed quarter final sees Mervyn King take on Dennis “The Menace” Priestley, who made a dramatic comeback against Wayne Mardle to reach the quarter finals and it’s 1/2 for King to progress to the semi-finals and 10/11 for Priestley. The two-time World Champion is 13/2 to win by 4 sets to 3 and he’s 10/11 to hit the first 180 of the match. It’s 6/5 for King to make the perfect start by hitting his double with his first dart and 11/8 for Priestley to do the same.
Phil Taylor admitted his relief after erasing memories of last year’s first-round defeat in the Sky Poker World Grand Prix with a 2-0 win over Ronnie Baxter in Dublin on Tuesday night.

Taylor suffered a straight sets loss to qualifier Adrian Gray a year ago but notched the tournament’s highest average so far this year with 96.72 in a fine display.

Taylor managed four 180s en route to victory and hit six darts of a potential nine-darter as he moved into the last 16.

“I’m relieved and very pleased to get through that,” said Taylor. “Last year I was crying behind the stage after the first round, this year I’m smiling.

“I can relax a bit now because the format’s a bit longer. Every player in the first round is nervous and I was no different.”

Dubliner Jacko Barry enjoyed a final-leg 2-1 victory over Northern Ireland’s Brendan Dolan and will meet world champion John Part in the second round. Part beat Chris Mason 2-0. Mark Walsh and Andy Hamilton produced 2-1 wins over Steve Beaton and Andy Smith respectively.
