We have warmly settled into the autumn/winter season of the PDC season, and yes, we have not put our heating on yet!
We may laugh out loud, but we are all business here and we enter night three of the competition, seeing night two’s action see a near 9-darter from Van Gerwen. There was also plenty of shocks including Raymond van Barneveld and James Wade going out at the first hurdle. What will tonight have in store

We see above a re-match of the UK open back in june and our match of the night will go with King and Chisnall.
With the longer format, players will be able to settle in much easier. The first round demonstrated a complacency ban, and this affected some players getting off slowly. Phil Taylor was tested but not phased in his opener.
Dolan Vs Voort
Vincent faced an Irish player in the first round and gets the tougher opponent with Brendan Dolan. How can we forget Dolan’s 9 darter last year. He is so proud of it, and so he should.

Voort – 11/10
Vincent was hardly convincing in beating William O’ Connor and went down to a finale leg, which nearly went against the Dutchman. Remember the format is best of five sets, so in theory the minimum leg to be played is nine. Blue Square go 10/11 on over 17.5 legs meaning in essence if the game goes four sets they must all have two five leg sets and two four leg sets to win. This provides little or no value and pretty much banks on a fifth set occurring for the bet to win. Part of me wants to back a highest checkout score, but with the more sets on offer, makes the chances more optimistic. On their day, Voort will score more maximums than Dolan and is 10/11 with Boylesports to oblige. Voort is 1/7 with a 2.5 set headstart requiring just one to win. Some ACCA’s will go with this.

Pipe Vs Painter
Both players were considered underdogs in their first round matches. Both are quality players and it is only a matter of time before Pipe wins an on stage major!

The bookies are writing Kevin off, and he won a rare whitewash against competent Kim Huybrechts in round one. Justin Pipe took out European Champion Simon Whitlock and deserved the win. Both players are grafters of the game, but we believe Justin is shorter than he should be.
Kevin Painter is a bargain price of 1/1 to trouser the first maximum with Boylesports and Betfred. Kevin Painter is priced at 1/1 with Paddy Power to score a 102+ checkout in the match and he will certainly have a great opportunity to achieve this. We are convinced Kevin can get the opening 180 and this will be our recommendation. Pipe is a strong candidate to win, but 8/13 does not appeal, and with the correct scores permutations; there is little value to be achieved here.
Phil Taylor Vs Robert Thornton
Taylor wouldn’t have forgotten about his defeat to thornton for the UK open crown in June.

Taylor – 1/5 Coral
Thornton – 4/1 Ladbrokes
Thornton has been playing the darts of his career. An early scare in round one will have woken Thornton up. He will have the leveller with Taylor again, if he can be consistent with his double in starts. Robert is 4/6 +2.5 sets, which is excellent value, seeing as he only has to win a set. Taylor is as big as 6/4 to win 3-0, which is poor value in respect of Thornton. This wont be bothering him, and +2.5 must be a bet to seriously consider.
Mervyn King Vs Dave Chisnall
As mentioned at the beginning, in our view, the games of the night with Chisnall continuing his climb up the rankings and King attempting to re-enter the fray.

King – 6/4 Stan James
Chisnall – 4/6 Blue Square
King will be seen by fans as value at this price. King is rock steady and the ultimate professional on stage. We even saw him laughing with the crowd, which meant he enjoys the Irish crowd. It has been ages since we saw a relaxed King, having nothing to lose etc, and taking out the bull, Terry Jenkins.
King is best 8/13 +1.5 sets, which does not appeal so to speak. Chisnall is short admittedly, but the match is capable of going the distance. As mentioned earlier, the boundary has been made at 17.5 legs. Not all the bookies have released their prices, so we are hesitant to to make a recommendation on this market, so await confirmation on Twitter @lockuptipster. Boylesports go just 4/6 on 8 or more maximums in the game. With five between them combined in the opening round may give more opportunity to add to this.
